Inspire Teachers

A teacher can have a lifelong impact on a child.

Similarly, a classroom or education program can have a deep effect on teachers who work there. We support the educators at Friends Center with wages starting 50% above the state minimum, professional development opportunities, health benefits, a dedication to the NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Children) Code of Ethics, and providing a proactive and personal environment of support.

For Maria, a social work intern in 2018, working with Friends Center provided both career development and academic accolades. When Maria began her internship, the concept of Quaker values and their impact on children’s character development piqued her interest. She developed her thesis on the topic — Assessing Quaker Values and Character Strengths Among Young Children — and won 3rd place at the 33rd Annual National Association of Social Workers CT Conference.
