Equity for educators
Equity is also a priority as we look to caring for our teachers. Due to funding limitations, and a desire to keep family costs as low as possible, we are unable to raise teacher salaries as high as they should be. In response, we launched the Teacher Housing Initiative — a program that supplements teacher salaries by providing free housing. Qualifications for this program are based on an equity lens — teachers who have been historically and systemically oppressed and have the highest need for fiscal support are prioritized.
Equity for our educators is also seen in our commitment to help each of our teachers on their trajectory of their career and growth through tuition reimbursement and paid professional development, including our Leadership Training Program. Likewise, to alleviate the impact of being systemically undervalued, overburdened and marginalized, our financial hardship program provides educators with grant and loan options for any unexpected financial obstacles or burden.
