Quality early childhood education should be an option for all families, regardles of their incomes. Friends Center has a sliding scale tuition, participates in School readiness Program and accepts Care 4 Kids funding. Families pay based on their income.
We welcome and encourage all families to apply to the Friends Center for Children. During the enrollment process, as with every aspect of our program, we take the time to get to know your family, focusing on your child’s individual development and childcare needs. Please see the steps below for more information on the enrollment process.
Adults come to visit the center to tour the classroom and meet with the staff and director, who will explain the program and answer any questions you may have.
This is an opportunity for your child to see and explore the space and for you and the teachers to get a better sense of how our program might best meet his or her needs. These visits are normally scheduled between 10 and 11 am, when our existing children are outside.
Conversation with Cooperative Family
To help you learn more about the cooperative aspect of our program, we will ask one of our FCFC families to call you.
If our center is a good match for your family we will send you a letter of acceptance and a tuition and cooperative agreement form.
Once the tuition agreement form and deposit has been returned, we will send you the enrollment packet. This packet contains; the family handbook, our current year calendar, paperwork for enrolling your child and information about our cooperative jobs. Please feel free to call us with any question about the forms, or if you prefer you can come in and we can help you fill out the required paperwork.
To help ease the transition of entering school, a teacher can come visit your child at home. This gives the child a chance to feel comfortable in his or her own environment and to make a one on one connection with the teacher without the distraction of a new classroom and other children. It is also an opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have, and to tell us more about your child.
First Day at the Center (Visiting Day)
This is a shortened day for you to come to FCFC with your child and spend the morning with us. Visiting day is a time for children to get to know the teachers and the center better with the reassuring presence of their family member nearby.
Phase in Program and Full Enrollment
During the first week of the new school year, your child will come to FCFC for a slightly longer day each day so that by the Friday of the week she or he is staying for their full schedule.
If you are interested in enrolling your child and there is no space available, we will place your child’s name on our waiting list. As soon as a space becomes available, we will call to confirm your continued interest and send a letter of acceptance and a tuition and cooperative agreement form.
