In September 2013, Friends Center for Children moved into its new home: a 9,500 square foot, "green" building that serves 86 children and their families. There are five infant/toddlers pods that accommodate a total of 40 children and two preschool pods that together can host 46 children. The facility also offers a music and movement studio, a library nook, a rooftop garden and outdoor classrooms.
Located in the Fair Haven Heights section of the Quinnipiac River community, the Center abuts acres of protected forest and wetlands, providing a serene and inspiring backdrop for learning and discovery. Although it feels worlds apart, the Center is only a seven-minute drive from downtown New Haven, and a short walk for families living in the vibrant and diverse river community.
